Soca Empire UK launched on Saturday 6th July and was billed as the fete not to be missed. For the price of your ticket, you certainly had an impressive line-up of DJs and featured artists. Although, I had to look twice at the timings for the event, for it was a mammoth 12-hour fete! Those up to the stamina of drinking and feting all day, your stomachs could be lined with the amazing buffet spread, best of all it was included in the price of the ticket. i.e. it was free. The food was excellent, served with good portions and lots of choice on both foods and side dishes.
Held at The Union Bar, it housed a sizeable floor space with an outdoor area too, if you wanted to chill. Air-conditioned, with decent bar prices, it was a fantastic venue choice and right near Warren Street tube Station.
Missing the best part of the day, I arrived at the end of Release D Riddim‘s set, fortunately there were plenty of DJs lined up. What could I say, about the quality of entertainment as first we had Triniboi Jooice, Merzy Soca and Batch as the featured artists to take to the stage. The resident hype master Jhomol di Vibez King who had the energy needed to keep the crowds rocking. Also witnessing the delights of the some of the veteran DJs such as, Digga D, DJ Bones, Super Nytro, ShakerHD & QT2hype and so many more to mention. Just check out the Soca Empire UK Instagram for the full DJ line up.
Whilst, it was not a sold-out event, this did not do anything to lessen the vibe, for we had the benefit of a good floorspace, a selection of DJs, featured artists, with plenty of vibes & food.
For a first event in its series it certainly made its mark and felt that the promoters exceeded expectations of the majority that attended. It’s certainly an event to watch out for as it and hope that many more people will come out to support future of Soca Empire UK.
